With more than 18 years of legal experience, I have led the Legal Department of a financial institution held by a public company, led the Legal Department of a family office holding investments in diverse sectors, participated in several M&A transactions, an IPO process, the purchase of a banking institution in the U.S. by a foreign group of investors, and worked at law firms with international presence, among other achievements. Legal experience mainly in Corporate Governance, Securities Regulations, M&A, Corporate Development, Contracts, Corporate Law, Compensation, Policy Development, Investor Relations, among others. Non-for-profit Board and pro-bono experience.

Gabriel Hoyos H.

A highly skilled and accomplished Corporate Attorney with focus in complex contracting and negotiations. Demonstrated expertise in business development, commercial agreements, account management, negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, retail, international trade, logistics, franchise operations, marketing, sports marketing, hospitality and IT with more than 20 years of working experience.

Commercial lawyer, admitted in Mexico and Missouri. I have comprehensive experience in leading legal operations for multinational companies across Latin America and the U.S., ensuring compliance, managing risks, and providing strategic legal support. Over my career I have coordinated cross-functional internal teams and senior executives to ensure operational alignment.

I have worked for different industries in my career, including, beverages, consulting, retail, sports and hospitality, representing companies in global transactions as in-house counsel working with multidisciplinary teams.

I hold a JD from the Universidad Iberoamericana, in Mexico City, a certificate in Contract Law from the same university and an LL.M. from Northwestern University, in Chicago.

Erika Barros Sierra

Technology policy and regulatory affairs expert with over 15 years of international experience advising digital platforms operating at the edge of existing regulatory frameworks. She supports companies across the U.S., EU, UK, and Latin America in managing classification and enforcement risk while enabling sustainable growth.

Her work focuses on platform regulation, data protection, AI governance, cybersecurity risk, and online safety, helping non-ad-driven platforms translate regulatory expectations into practical, risk-based governance frameworks aligned with product and security realities.

Previously, Erika was Director of Policy at Vimeo, where she led global policy strategy and worked closely with legal, trust & safety, security, and product teams to assess regulatory impact and operational readiness. She played a key role in positioning Vimeo as distinct from consumer social media platforms under regimes such as the EU Digital Services Act and UK Online Safety Act. She is a founding member and former Secretary of Internet Works, a coalition of small and mid-sized platforms.

Erika holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, is licensed to practice law in New York and Mexico, and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/EU).

Patricia Martínez Mateos

Spanish-licensed attorney with international legal experience in Europe, Latin America, and the United States.
With a truly global background, I have developed my career in Madrid, Mexico City, and New York, advising clients across diverse industries and jurisdictions. My practice focuses on corporate and transactional law, including cross-border M&A and corporate governance for U.S., Spanish, and Latin American clients.

Before joining Casanueva Law, I worked at a leading law firm in New York City, where I advised on corporate restructurings, commercial agreements, and cross-border transactions. Previously, I practiced at a law firm in Mexico City, assisting clients in regulatory compliance and transactional matters, and began my career at a Madrid-based firm focused on corporate and business law.
I hold an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center (Washington, D.C.), a Master’s in Business Legal Management from Universidad Villanueva, and dual Master’s and Law Degrees from Spanish universities.
